Marriage After “I Do”
Marriage begins with a covenant. Living that covenant involves the conversations, choices, responsibilities, pressures, joys, and changes couples experience throughout married life.
We Said, “I Do,” Now What? The Biblical Blueprint Edition brings Scripture together with practical relationship guidance to help husbands and wives examine how they communicate, manage finances, nurture intimacy, work through conflict, grow, establish boundaries, and build trust.
At the center of the book is the Relationships Reimagined® 7 Foundations Framework™: Communication, Conflict, Trust, Intimacy, Finances, Boundaries, and Growth.
Based on the Original Edition
We Said, “I Do,” Now What? The Biblical Blueprint Edition is based on the original edition of We Said, “I Do,” Now What? The original edition reached No. 1 in three Amazon categories.
The original edition did not directly reference Scripture. Readers asked for a version that made the biblical underpinnings explicit, and this edition weaves God’s Word into every chapter.
In the original edition, the framework was called the 7 Foundations of Marriage Framework. In this edition it appears as the Relationships Reimagined® 7 Foundations Framework™. The name changed as the framework expanded beyond marriage, while its core purpose remains consistent.
What Makes the Biblical Blueprint Edition Different?
This edition was created for couples who want to grow spiritually as well as relationally. Biblical teaching and practical relationship principles work together through:
Devotional Insights
Scripture is connected directly to the relationship principles explored in each chapter.
Chapter Highlights
Each chapter includes a “What Lies Ahead” preview that identifies the central ideas.
Living It Out
Practical exercises help husbands and wives put the chapter’s principles into practice.
Questions for Reflection
Guided questions support personal reflection and conversation between spouses.
Closing Prayers
Couples conclude each chapter by bringing what they have explored before God.
Each chapter also opens with a composite couple’s story and closes with Key Takeaways and a look ahead to the next chapter. Together, these elements give couples a repeatable pattern of Scripture, discussion, application, reflection, and prayer.
The Relationships Reimagined® 7 Foundations Framework™
The book uses the original seven Foundations developed for couple relationships:
Communication
“Communication is the breath of a relationship. Without it, the relationship suffocates.”
How couples listen, speak, understand, and respond to one another.
Conflict
“Conflict becomes destructive when pride leads, and healing when humility listens.”
How couples work through differences, disagreement, tension, recurring concerns, forgiveness, and repair.
Trust
“Trust is the rare gift that only honesty can keep.”
How honesty, integrity, dependability, commitment, and consistent actions strengthen security within the marriage.
Intimacy
“Intimacy begins when vulnerability is met with trust and acceptance.”
The emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, and experiential closeness shared within marriage.
Finances
“Finances tell the story of what we believe in most.”
How money, stewardship, financial priorities, habits, decisions, and responsibilities affect the marriage.
Boundaries
“Boundaries are the walls that protect peace and the gates that guard respect.”
How couples protect the marriage while managing family, work, friendships, technology, responsibilities, and outside influences.
Growth
“Growth begins when you choose to outgrow yesterday.”
How spouses develop individually and together while adapting to changing seasons of life.
These seven themes are woven through every chapter.

Biblical Teaching Meets Real Married Life
Throughout the book, composite couples illustrate relationship patterns that many husbands and wives will recognize. Their stories provide a starting point for discussing how communication, financial decisions, intimacy, technology, expectations, conflict, boundaries, trust, and other pressures can affect married life. All names, characters, and incidents are fictionalized composites inspired by common relationship patterns.
The book also takes on difficult passages directly. Chapter 1 addresses Ephesians 5 and the misuse of submission, confronting distortions and guiding couples toward the freedom and trust God intended.
Alongside enduring marriage concerns, the book addresses contemporary pressures, including phones and social media, digital boundaries and privacy, artificial intelligence and AI companions, and the Relationships Reimagined® PACE Framework™ for keeping technology in its place. It also covers financial unity, planning for the future, and roles and responsibilities.
For Couples at Different Stages of Marriage
You may be newly married, preparing for your wedding, or seeking a deeper intimacy after years together. The book can serve couples at different stages of married life:

This is our suggested format, built from the elements already in each chapter:
Before the Meeting
Read the assigned chapter individually or as a couple.
Begin Together
Open the group with prayer and review the primary Scripture and chapter theme.
Discuss
Use selected Questions for Reflection and chapter concepts to guide group conversation.
Apply
Invite couples to choose one of the Living It Out practices to complete together.
Pray
Close with the chapter’s prayer or use its themes to guide group prayer.
Between Meetings
Couples continue the selected practice and discuss what they are learning with one another.
Flexible Study Length
Because the book has 16 chapters, a group can use all of them or only some:
Full 16-Session Study
Work through one chapter per gathering.
Suggested 8-Week Plan
Cover two chapters per week over eight weeks. A week-by-week schedule and session format are available.
Selected-Topic Study
Choose chapters based on the needs of the ministry, such as communication, financial unity, intimacy, conflict, boundaries, or trust.
Retreat or Workshop Series
Select several chapters around a focused theme and use the reflection and application material between sessions.
Support Beyond the Book
The book encourages couples to seek help from counselors, mentors, or pastors when a pattern is more than a couple can manage alone. Chapters 9 and 10 each include a “When to Seek Help” section.
Those sections address patterns of anger or intimidation that disrupt safety in the home, and they state that if a marriage includes abuse or coercion, couples should seek support centered on safety before beginning joint repair work.
Foreword by Dr. Jada Jackson
In her foreword, Dr. Jada Jackson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and the Founder and Clinical Director of ThinkWell+, describes the book as practical, faith-centered guidance for husbands and wives who want to strengthen their marriage and honor the covenant they share.
